About us
We use both Ancient and Modern and Songs of Fellowship to sing traditional and more modern hymns and intermingle Taize chants and prayers in our worship.
Whether you’re local to Sweffling or exploring the local area, St Mary’s welcomes you.
Services
We gather at 9.30 am on the first and third Sundays of each month. Our style is traditional, led by the Book of Common Prayer: Communion on the first Sunday, and Morning Prayer on the third. A smaller, intimate gathering takes place on the second Wednesday of each month at 11 am for Midweek communion. We welcome special Festival and Benefice services too.
Children are warmly invited and can choose to stay in the service or join the Sunday school in the vestry.
However, we enjoy having family services from time to time when the children/ teenagers take part by reading, singing and leading prayers.
Activities
The church is currently only open on Wednesday and Sunday. At other times, keys to the church can be requested from the churchwardens.
Facilities
The church building is well-maintained, thanks to a regular maintenance programme. It has an excellent heating system and a modern flush toilet. The vestry has just been refurbished (2017). In addition to providing a suitable area for service preparation, it also has facilities to serve refreshments after services, concerts, and other events, and is a warm and inviting space for the Sunday School.
